Preschool Child Care
The purpose of the YMCA Preschool Child Care is to be a partner with parents in the social, mental, physical, and spiritual development of their children by offering a structured and creative program provided by a qualified and nurturing staff.
Each child shall be recognized as an individual whose gender, ability, personal privacy, choice of activities, and cultural, ethnic and religious background is respected.
The Two Rivers YMCA understands the sensitive needs of your preschool child. We offer developmentally and age appropriate activities that ensure your child gets the most out of his/her YMCA experience.
Pre-Kindergarten / Four & Five-Year-Olds
We understand the importance of preparing children for success in elementary school. This unique program stresses learning through action while utilizing the entire YMCA facility for exploration and creative play. Our thematic approach emphasizes learning through experiences in writing, math, literacy, language, science, social and emotional activities, dramatic play, and music. The goal of the program is to help your child succeed and develop a positive feeling about themselves and school. Field trips and guest speakers are also part of the curriculum.
Three & Four-Year-Olds
This age is a critical learning period. Our program features a thematic approach to learning and offers a variety of intriguing activities to stimulate early development. This class utilizes the entire YMCA facility to foster social and emotional growth as well as large and small motor skills. Children realize personal interests at their own pace while developing language skills, writing, number and letter recognition, and their imagination. Field trips and guest speakers throughout the year help to complete the curriculum.
Two-Year-Olds
We strive to create a developmentally appropriate hands-on learning environment designed specifically for two-year-olds. Your child will learn through discovery during busy, fun-filled days at the Y. Social skills, language development, and large and small movement skills are the focus for your little one. Our nurturing staff understands the development needs of this tender age.
