Two Rivers YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign
The Two RIvers YMCA believes in our community and invests
its resources in "building strong kids, strong families and a
stronger community". The YMCA is available for for everyone; individuals, families, children, regardless of income, race, age or religion through the scholarship program, as we turn no youth away due to the inability to pay. The Strong Kids Campaign, with the help of community volunteers, helps to raise community support so that every child and family can participate in YMCA programs, classes and activities.
Gifts given through our Strong Kids Campaign help fund YMCA youth programs. The YMCA's programs not only teach young people skills, but more importantly, YMCA youth programs are vehicles to building character in young people. YMCA programs instill the core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility - building character and self-esteem. YMCA has Day camps, Schools Out Club, swimming lessons, youth sports programs, Before & After School-age Child Care (in 25 schools sites) and our Pre-school child care program making them affordable for all families. And, the YMCA has youth outreach programs in Rock Island at the Martin Luther King Center, Rock Island High School and Edison Jr. High that are teaching important life skills and instilling the core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. These young people develop positive character traits and are exposed to positive role models and behaviors that will help them grow up to be responsible and productive adults.
Now, more than ever, the YMCA plays an important role in our community by providing a facility and programming that strengthening families and focus on the holistic development of youth.
