2009 Summer Camp

Summer is a special time for children to enjoy the outdoors and have fun with their friends. It can also be a time to make new friends from different schools and neighborhoods and to learn outside of the classroom setting. Our YMCA Summer Camps provide worthwhile summertime activities for kids and peace of mind for parents who are concerned about what their children are doing with their time away from school. Y Summer Camps feature fun new experiences and personal enrichment. Our camps are staffed with counselors who have YMCA camp training and a genuine concern and love for children. Our camp will help children develop their creative abilities, make new friends, learn more about nature, be active, and above all, have fun! During your child’s day they will be involved in activities which focus on the core values of the YMCA – caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Small Wonders Camp (entering grades K-1st)
The activities in this camp are developmentally appropriate and designed to introduce new experiences and challenges to our young campers in a safe and caring environment. Counselors will have high expectations with boundaries and provide opportunities to build character and self-esteem in each participant. Children will play, swim, learn, sing, meet new friends, relax, go on one field trip each week, and have a great summer at the YMCA. Maximum of 125 campers with 1 counselor to 8 camper ratio.

Discovery Camp (entering grades 2nd-4th)
This summer your child will enjoy exciting daily activities at our YMCA and out in the community during this camp. It provides children with a chance to develop character, learn valuable life skills, create new friendships and discover new interests. There will be sports, games, arts, crafts, reading, writing, music, outdoor education and one field trip each week. Maximum of 125 campers with 1 counselor to 10 camper ratio.

Sports Camp (entering grades 2nd-4th)
Ready, set, go! Children in this camp will be on the move every day! This program offers a variety of sports, wellness activities, daily conditioning and education about health and nutrition. Participants will enjoy the outdoors learning basic fundamentals and skills on new and familiar sports. This camp will go on one weekly field trip. Maximum of 125 campers with 1 counselor to 10 camper ratio.

BTween Camp (entering grades 5th-6th)
This year we are finding a special place for our campers in the middle! Too big for our younger camps and not ready to hang with the teens, then this is the one for you. This camp will do all of the fun things we do in all of our other camps, but activities will be geared specifically for this age group. Two field trips are offered each week. Maximum of 80 campers with 1 Counselor to 15 camper ratio.

Teen Adventure Camp (entering grades 7th-8th)
Campers will explore, hike, play and have fun all around the Quad Cities area during this camp. Our trained staff will keep your camper busy and safe throughout the summer. Two field trips are offered each week. Maximum of 80 campers with 1 Counselor to 15 camper ratio.

C.I.T. Program (entering grades 9th-10th)
