As area schools reopen this fall with a variety of blended curriculums including in-person learning and at-home e-learning, the Two Rivers YMCA is dedicated to serving community families by providing a caring and safe place for children when not at their schools.

For over 30 years, we have been offering quality childcare programs to grades K-6 throughout the Illinois Quad Cities. That commitment stands now, more than ever, by adapting traditional childcare programs with convenience, sustainability, and increased safety measures during these uncertain times.

We will be offering two forms of School Age Care this fall for students K-6; Before and After School Care (at select area schools) and School’s Out Club (at the YMCA).

Before and After School Care will take place at select Illinois Quad Cities elementary schools. It will start at 6:30 am until the beginning of the school day. After school dismissal, the program will run until 5:30 pm.

In the past, School’s Out Club was traditionally held on school holidays and breaks. This program will now also be offered every Monday – Friday from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm at the Two Rivers YMCA campus in Moline.

Not only do these programs provide a safe environment for area children, it also stimulates their learning potential with homework and e-learning support as well as character building mini-lessons with the Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Children will also be fed healthy meals and snacks through the Nourish Food Program.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, parents have trusted the well-being of their children to the Y through childcare for Essential Workers and later, Summer Day Camp which began mid-June. The Y has also been a leader in helping Governor Pritzker’s administration develop guidelines for childcare programs in Illinois since late-March.
