Racquetball

Racquetball

Racquetball is a fast-paced indoor racquet sport played with a hollow rubber ball and solid racquets.

In racquetball, the objective is to hit the ball against the front wall in a way that makes it difficult for the opponent to return. Players take turns serving and returning the ball until one fails to make a legal return or commits a fault, resulting in the opponent scoring a point.

The game features intense rallies, quick reflexes, and strategic shot placement. Players must use the walls to their advantage, as the ball can bounce off multiple surfaces during a rally. The sport can be played in singles or doubles format, with doubles involving teams of two players.

Racquetball is known for its physical demands, requiring agility, speed, and hand-eye coordination. It can be played at various skill levels, from casual recreational play to competitive tournaments.

Racquetball is available at both the Moline-East Moline YMCA and Kewanee YMCA.

Pickleball

Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played with a perforated plastic ball (similar to a wiffle ball) and solid paddles. The game is typically played on a badminton-sized court, either indoors or outdoors, with a lowered net.

Pickleball can be played in singles or doubles format. The objective is to hit the ball over the net and land it within the opponent's court, aiming to score points by making the ball unreturnable. The serving player must start the point with an underhand serve and continue to play until a fault occurs.

The sport is known for its accessibility and is popular among people of all ages and skill levels. It offers a balance of strategy, hand-eye coordination, and physical activity.
