Iris O'Dowd

Early Childhood Development Director

Iris O’Dowd is the Director of the Two Rivers YMCA Early Childhood Program. Iris’s career began at home with an In-Home Daycare when her children were young for 8 years. Iris began working outside the home in the early childhood field in 1998 at a Head Start Program as a Teacher Assistant. Since then Iris has been a Preschool Teacher, Family Advocate, Family Service Specialist, Kindergarten Teacher, Assistant Director, and Director of Early Childhood. Iris earned an Illinois Director Credential in 2002.

Iris served on the Youth Commission Board in Justice Illinois, and on the Board of Directors for the Justice/Willow Springs Little League for 13 years, serving as President her last three years in the League. Iris was also Team Manager and Score Keeper for Robert Morris University’s Hockey Team for the four years her son attended the University.

Iris earned a Bachelor’s Degree at DePaul University in Chicago Illinois in Early Childhood Management, and a Master’s Degree in Education at Dominican University in River Forest Illinois. Iris’s vision is to help young children build a strong foundation which will help them throughout their education and life.

In her leisure time Iris enjoys, biking, rollerblading, and fishing. But most of all Iris enjoys spending time with her family!
