Meet Matt Bersell, Program Director at the Kewanee YMCA. Matt brings more than a decade of experience in aquatics and youth development, along with a strong passion for helping individuals of all ages grow, learn, and succeed.
A 2016 graduate of Monmouth College, Matt has built a well-rounded background in aquatics leadership throughout his career. His experience includes serving as a lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, and pool manager for the Galva Park District. His hands-on approach and dedication to safety, skill development, and mentorship have made him a respected leader in the community.
Matt is also a familiar face at the Y as the head coach of the Kraken competitive youth swim team. Through his leadership and commitment to youth programming, he has already made a lasting impact on many young athletes and families throughout the area.
As Program Director, Matt is focused on creating positive experiences for members of all ages while continuing to strengthen and grow the YMCA’s aquatics, wellness, and youth programs.
Outside of the Y, Matt enjoys lifting weights, swimming, golfing, reading, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends. His energy, experience, and passion for community make him a valuable part of the YMCA team.
